Therapy for High-Achieving Professional Women

Did I choose the wrong life?

If you’ve built a high-powered career, climbed the ladder, or grown a business, it’s a question that can sneak in even when everything looks “perfect” on paper.

You worked hard to build a good life. You may even have many of the things you thought would make you happy. So why are you overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or wondering whether this is actually the life you want?

Private-pay virtual therapy in Texas, Missouri, and New York for high-achieving women navigating burnout, identity shifts, anxiety, relationships, and the pressures that can come with building a life that looks successful from the outside.

This work isn’t about blowing everything up.

It’s about understanding what’s no longer working, figuring out what you actually want, and creating a version of success you can live inside.

Who This Work Is For

You’re capable. You’re ambitious. You’re used to figuring things out.

Maybe you’re also the person everyone relies on—and you’re getting tired of always being the one who has it together.

For some women, especially first-generation professionals, upward mobility brings more than opportunity.

It can bring pressure.
Isolation.
Identity shifts no one prepared you for.
Distance from the people and life that once felt familiar.

You can love what you’ve built and still question how it feels to live inside it.

You can be proud of how far you’ve come and still want something different.

Those things can exist at the same time.

I work with high-achieving professional women in Texas, Missouri, and New York who are navigating anxiety, burnout, identity, relationships, career questions, and the pressure to keep achieving—without necessarily wanting to throw their lives away.

What Brings People to Therapy

Most clients don’t come to therapy because everything has fallen apart.

They come because the way they’ve been doing things isn’t working as well as it used to.

You might notice:

  • Burnout that doesn’t resolve with a weekend off
  • Anxiety around performance, expectations, or making the wrong choice
  • Pressure to keep achieving even when you’re already doing plenty
  • Difficulty feeling content despite having a successful life
  • Loneliness in leadership, entrepreneurship, or professional spaces
  • Disconnection or tension in your relationships
  • Questioning your career, relationship, or other major life decisions
  • Feeling responsible for everyone else
  • Overthinking and second-guessing yourself
  • A sense that nothing you accomplish is ever quite enough

From the outside, your life may look completely fine. You may be the person other people assume has everything figured out.

That doesn’t mean you have to keep figuring everything out alone.

Beyond Burnout

Burnout is often treated as a workload problem.

Sometimes it is.

But sometimes the deeper question is what your life is asking you to keep doing—and whether you still want to do it.

Many high-achieving women built lives that made sense at the time, but no longer fit who they are becoming.

You may find yourself wondering:

  • Did I choose the wrong life?
  • Why doesn’t success feel better than this?
  • Why can’t I slow down?
  • Who am I outside of work?
  • What do I actually want?
  • If I stopped doing what everyone expects of me, what would I choose?

Therapy gives you space to sort through those questions without immediately turning every realization into a five-year plan.

We can look at what is contributing to your anxiety or burnout while also exploring the bigger questions around identity, relationships, values, ambition, and direction.

What We Work Toward

This work focuses on understanding who you are beyond achievement and making choices that actually reflect who you are now.

Together, we may explore:

  • Identity beyond work and productivity
  • Values and direction
  • The patterns you developed to succeed
  • Anxiety, perfectionism, and internal pressure
  • Ambition and contentment
  • Relationships and meaningful connection
  • Boundaries and responsibility
  • Career and life decisions
  • The expectations you’ve inherited from family, culture, and society
  • What you want this next stage of your life to look like

The goal isn’t to eliminate ambition.

It’s to stop letting achievement make every decision for you.

You can be ambitious and still rest.

You can care about your career and want more from your life.

You can be successful without constantly feeling like you should be doing more.

The goal is a life that fits who you are, not just one that looks good on paper.

What Therapy With Me Is Like

Therapy with me is grounded, thoughtful, and direct.

There is no pressure to perform here.

The professional part of you can rest.

Other parts of you are welcome to take up space, too.

We talk honestly.
We ask difficult questions.
We look at patterns.
We figure out what’s actually happening beneath the thing that brought you in.

And yes, dark humor is welcome. Swearing is normal.

I’m not going to tell you what your life should look like. I will help you understand yourself well enough to make that decision for yourself.

Some sessions may involve deeper exploration. Other sessions may be more practical—working through a difficult conversation, a relationship problem, a decision, or something happening at work.

You don’t need to come into therapy with a perfectly organized explanation of what’s wrong. You just need to be willing to be honest about what’s happening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at counselingwithleah@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Your privacy matters. All communications are secure and HIPAA-protected.

I mainly work with adult women and professionals in Texas, Missouri, and New York who are feeling overwhelmed by burnout, navigating identity shifts, dealing with anxiety, body image challenges, or going through life transitions. If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

We connect through video for about 50 minutes each session. Usually, we meet weekly, but we’ll find a rhythm that fits your life and needs. All sessions are private pay, secure, and HIPAA-compliant. Services are available only to clients located in Texas, Missouri, or New York.

Feel free to schedule some time on my calendar for a free 15-minute consultation. We will use this time to discuss your needs and goals, what I'm bringing to the table, and if this will be a good fit for the both of us.

No, I do not take insurance directly.

I am a private-pay therapist, which means payment is made at the time of service. I provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and many clients also use HSA or FSA funds for sessions.

A superbill is basically a detailed receipt you can give to your insurance company to try and get reimbursed. It includes things like what service you got, the dates, diagnosis codes, and my credentials. After each session, I’ll send you one so you can submit it and possibly get some money back.

If your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits, you may be able to get part of your sessions reimbursed.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You pay at the time of your session
  2. I provide a superbill (a receipt your insurance needs)
  3. You send it to your insurance company, usually through their online portal
  4. If your plan covers it, they reimburse you directly

Many clients find this easier than it sounds, and reimbursement amounts vary depending on your specific plan. If you’re unsure, you can call the number on your insurance card and ask about “out-of-network mental health benefits.”

You can also use HSA or FSA funds for payment if you have them.

Private pay offers more flexibility and privacy in your care. We are not limited by insurance requirements, session caps, or treatment restrictions, which allows therapy to stay focused on your goals and needs.

It also means your information is not shared with insurance companies beyond what is needed for a superbill if you choose to use one.

Many clients prefer this because it allows for a more personalized and flexible therapy experience.

I’m happy to help with general info, but for the nitty-gritty details about your coverage, it’s best to check directly with your insurance provider.

Life happens! Just try to give me at least 24 hours’ notice so we can avoid cancellation fees. I appreciate when you keep me in the loop.

Your privacy is super important to me. I follow all HIPAA regulations and use secure, encrypted video platforms to keep our sessions safe.

I keep things warm, real, and grounded. We’ll laugh, get serious when needed, and make space for both the challenges and the wins: big and small. My approach is strengths-based and solution-focused, tailored to your unique story.
